Today is a very special day

Exactly twenty-one years ago today….

I became a “Mrs.”

On that day, I married my best friend. Guess what? He still is. Only moreso. Looking back, it sure has been an amazing twenty-one years. Thanks, honey. I’m truly looking forward to the next twenty-one — and hopefully, many more!

Yep, that handsome guy looks every bit as handsome in the same uniform today as he did twenty-one years ago. It’s a good thing my wedding gown is “sealed” in special packing for future generations so I’m not on the spot to try it on now….. (smile).

PS — I’d like to send a very Happy Anniversary wish to my dear friend Carolyn and her husband, Bruce Archer. (I just knew I had a special bond with Carolyn when I met her years ago.) Today is their wedding anniversary, too, only I believe it is their 23rd!

PPS — For all your regular readers, I’m sure you’re familiar with my friend, Pat. (She leaves some of  the best, most encouraging comments, for which I’m so grateful!) Anyway, check out this link. It’s really neat — a real “small world” sort of thing. She’s the “mystery woman.” Too cool.

  1. Congratulations to you, Kimberly and Kent! Wow, someone worked hard to make sure that your honey is back home for this special day of yours.

Have a wonderful day and enjoy the coming weekend!

    Hugs, to both of you,

    Birgit

  2. Thank you so much, Birgit! Yep — Kent got home from his three week trip just yesterday, so the family is catching up and having fun now that he’s home. We’re going to a special seafood restaurant we love tonight to celebrate. The garlic shrimp is calling my name….

  3. Geez Kimberly, you must have been 12 when you and Kent were married — otherwise how could you look so young 21 years later!

What a milestone. It is truely a special gift when your mate is also you best friend, with both of you bringing out the very best in each other. God has smiled on both of you!

Have a fabulous time tonight. Sounds very romantic, but are you sure you want the GARLIC shrimp?

  4. What a wonderful day for you! But you better hold off on the GARLIC, especially if Kent’s been gone for 3 weeks!! I am so happy for you! Isn’t love wonderful?!

Congratulations on 21 years and many, many more to come.

  5. Congratulations Neighbor!!

  10. Happy Anniversary! waking up next to your best friend is always a great thing. A successful marriage requires falling in love often, always with the same person!

  11. Hi everybody —

Thank you, THANK YOU for all your sweet and thoughtful comments left on the blog about our anniversary! You’ll never know just how much I truly appreciate it, and I shared all your comments with Kent — he was really touched so many people took time to share good wishes with us. And you’ll all be pleased to know that I took your advice and did NOT have the garlic shrimp for dinner — opting for seafood mushrooms instead. Yummo!
