Blooming

Ever since we bought this house in March, I have been anxiously anticipating the Frangipani bushes to bloom in our backyard. I was told they would bloom in May, and sure enough — right on schedule — I found the first blooms yesterday.

Let me just say, it was worth the wait.

We have at least six bushes in our backyard so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. However, I never expected three different, glorious colors: White, yellow, and pretty pink! For those of you who aren’t familiar with Frangipani flowers, you may know them as Plumeria. They are more common in Hawaii where they are frequently used to make flower leis. I’m enjoying them here. Their fragrance is positively heavenly! Do you suppose someday they will invent a computer monitor with “scratch-n-sniff” capabilities?

Happy weekend, everyone. Enjoy the flower show!

  1. Since I can not hear I am all for adding a different sense to the computer and fragrance would be FAB.

  2. Wow Kim, these are gorgeous. I’ve lived in Florida almost my whole life, and I’ve never seen these before. Thanks for sharing.

  3. They are gorgeous! I brought back some from Hawaii and planted them. (they sell them there)
It took eight years for mine to bloom.(in a pot) I had them in the house year round but last summer I put it out on porch and it bloomed. But them I lefted it out side in winter so it died. But yours are beautiful.
