A fun little feature and the giveaway continues….

Thank you all SO much for your words of encouragement and support over the loss of my little quilt (see the last post). I’m feeling better today and looking for ways to move forward in a positive manner. I searched the Internet for charm packs of that exact fabric line, Woodland Blooms, and even contacted the fabric designer, Lila Tueller, to see if I could get replacements of that fabric so I can make another quilt exactly like the one that is missing. Truly, though, the thing that helped me the most was reading all your comments and knowing there are SO MANY TERRIFIC, WONDERFUL PEOPLE out there who really care. Thank you so much!

My new book is featured on the AQS Publishing blog right now, which also brightened my day! Click here to check it out. (Thank you, Andi Reynolds for that nice write up and overview of my book.)

Another autographed book giveaway is still in the works until midnight on Friday, January 22nd, so please leave me a comment here on the blog — or send me a photo of a quilt you’ve made using strips or a precut fabric pack to moc.omnieylrebmiknull@ylrebmiK for your chance to win.  I love hearing from all of you!

Toodles!

  1. Hi, I didn’t know whether to leave my comment on this post or the other sad news post…so I’m leaving it on both! I would love to be included in the extra drawing for an autographed copy of your book. I love precuts and do a lot with jelly rolls and layer cakes. I’d love to get some inspiration from the delightful quilts and tips in your book. Thank you so much.

  2. I have made strip quilts in the past using foundation fabric. More recently, I have a UFO that used strips, but after all the work, I just don’t think I want to finish it. My tastes have changed enough that the fabrics don’t appeal to me anymore.

  3. It broke my heart to hear about your quilt being stolen. I posted about it on my blog to try to spread the word. Maybe someone will see it somewhere. Did you register with the Lost Quilts site??

  4. I would love to be part of your giveaway. I have made quite a few quilts with charm packs and jelly rolls. I love the variety of fabrics you get at such a great price. Plus I love quilts with lots of colour.

  5. I would be honored to be entered into your giveaway. Hope and believe your quilt will be found!

  6. I can’t think of anything I would rather do than make some quilts with precuts. It is a new goal for me to make some to give as gifts to my friends who have all been so supportive of my endeavors.

  7. Oops. I just left my comment on why I would love to win your newest book on yesterday’s post. Does that count?

  8. Would love to win this so sign me up. Love your blog.

  9. I’m very excited to learn how to make jellyroll quilts. Thanks so much for being so generous even when I’m sure your faith in people was shaken due to the theft of your pretty little quilt.

  10. By the way, I love that sign!!! I searched the internet high and low last year for that sign but was unwilling to pay over $10 for shipping. Luckily, I was able to find it at a store in NYC last winter so I snatched it up! Which reminds me, I still need to frame it. LOL

Hope you are able to get more fabric to make a replacement.

  11. Hi Kimberly. My name is Terri Smith. I’m a visual artist out of Bonaire, Georgia. When I heard of your sad news regarding the loss of your quilt, I just had to pop in to tell you how sorry I am. I’ve had inventory stolen as well. My paintings are like my babies..and when one of them finds a home with a thief, my emotions spill over into my very soul. Again, I’m so very sorry this happened to you.

I’m a new blogger..only began this past December. I’ve connected with so many wonderful artists and have made some beautiful friends. If you would like to pop in sometime, you would be welcomed with open arms. My site is: http://www.dimplesdragonflies.com

I’ll leave you with a promising thought..I once was able to recover a particular canvas that was taken from my inventory. Please continue to keep the faith because you just never know.

    Blessings, peace and joy-overflowing, Terri

  12. P.S. I just toured your studio via your photographs. It’s lovely! Just lovely!

  13. So sorry to hear about your little quilt. I would love to win one of your books. I just bought a bunch of batiks in jelly rolls so your book would be a great inspiration for using them.

  14. Here I am again hoping to win a book with your autograph-I really need to just dive in and use some of my beautiful jelly rolls! Your book will be very inspiring I know. I am so sorry to hear about your missing quilt. I’m with you-just can’t see how anyone can do that. I know your book is going to be a blockbuster so i hope you are working on your next!?

  15. I just left the Lost Quilt website on your “Good News Bad News” post but I’ll leave it here as well. http://www.lostquilt.com/ I know that quilt have been recovered because of this site. Your book sounds interesting, I’ve never used precuts my self,( yes I know I;m probably only one left on the planet who hasn’t ). Pleas enter me in and if I win I promise I’ll give it a whirl!
    Congratulations on your book.

  16. So sorry to hear about your quilt!! 🙁

How can that person even look at the quilt without thinking about the pain they have caused…..

I am glad you are starting to feel a bit better….

And thank you for thinking of US and offering such a great give away.

  17. I am so sad over the loss of your quilt. Thank you for your generosity in offering this giveaway. Please count me in if it is open for overseas readers.

  18. I just found your blog and love it! I am sooooo sorry to hear about your stolen quilt. I had one of my quilts, a king size “Trip around the World”, destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. I had given it to my mother as a gift. Her house was completely destroyed in Waveland, Mississippi. Nothing remained but some of the chimmney stones. I mourned the loss of that quilt for months. It was a piece of me, so I can completely relate to how you feel.

I would love to be included in the giveaway for one of your books. I wish you much success and happiness!

  19. I would love to have a copy of this book. If you are still searching for the pre-cuts you might try http://www.quiltshops.com to search for it. I usually have luck using this website.

  20. Kimberly, I was so saddened to read that someone was so brazen to take your quilt. How awful! I do hope you’ll be able to get the fabrics to replace it or , better yet, recover the quilt.
I would love to be included in your book giveaway. I have mad several strip quilts. Most of my quilts are now donated to Quilts Of Valor for our wounded service members. Thank you fo this wonderful opportunity.

  21. I am so sorry about your little quilt and hope that someone will make the connection when they see it and one day it will return to you!

I have only been quilting a few years so I consider myself a rookie. I love all steps involved with quilting but, find the colors to be the most challenging. Perhaps because I like so much, all colors and textures, too much, perhap! Anyhow, thanks for an awesome opportuntiy to win your book and would love to have something in my hands that I can look at over and over for inspiration.

  22. I just sent a picture of a strip quilt I did. I like string quilts too and have a couple of those made as well. This book looks like interesting reading. I rather use my scraps and precuts rather than cut into fresh fabric….is it a sickness???? 🙂

  23. I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your quilt. I have several of the Woodland blooms precuts and woud gladly give them to you to so you can remake your quilt. Just let me know where to send them.

  24. Mary from Quilt Hollow (http://quilthollow.blogspot.com/ ) sent me over to take a gander at your blog, your work and your wonderful new book. Mary is such a sweetheart as I’m sure you know from Germany. She always shares, gives and charms us with her blog.

I’d love the opportunity to win your book but what I would love even more is to win the book for Mary. She certainly deserves the book from all that she does for others.

  25. I am just getting started with jelly rolls and other precuts. Your book looks like a necessary addition to my ever growing collection. My daughter, an 11 year old blooming quilter would love to have it too! Sorry to hear about your lost quilt. Best wishes and happy stitches!

  26. I read about your loss on Jocelyn’s blog. Things like that really feel like a punch in the stomach. I made a darling little quilt out of a charm pack and a little yardage, as a matter of fact it was a giveaway and Jocelyn won. I read about your quilt when I visited her site to get her url.
I pray God will bless you ten-fold for your loss, he promises to do that.
    Blessings, Kate

  27. I am so sorry about the loss of your quilt. It is so unnerving the way people can just walk away with someone else’s labor of love. I don’t know how they can look at the quilt knowing it was stolen.
I have just recently fallen in love with jelly rolls. I am intrigued by you book.
