A new New Year tradition

Everyone here has been craving German food lately. Son #1 has been pleading with me all week to make traditional-style schnitzel. Today seemed like the perfect day to start a new “New Year’s day” tradition.

Son #1 loves to make his own schnitzel-on-a-roll sandwiches for school and sometimes late night snacks so I made 35 (yes, you read that correctly) schnitzel patties today! They were so yummy. I couldn’t have done it without the help of my friend Birgit, who lives in Germany. She sent me the breading mix to make them! (THANK YOU, Birgit, from all of us!)

What are your traditions to bring in the new year? I’d love to hear from you!

PS — Tuffy’s tradition is to spend New Year’s day napping in a sunny spot. Of course this isn’t new. But you knew that, of course!

  1. ENJOY! (especially Josh!) – I’m glad it made your day! Happy New Year to the Einmo gang! Get in touch next week when you have a chance so that we can catch up – finally! Hugs, Birgit

  2. Ooh, I want some. I tried making them once and just wasn’t the same but I didn’t have a box of German breading.

We did go to a German restaurant over the holidays. It was good but again, not the same. Can anyone say “airtrip”? I want to go back to Miesau (sp?) and our fav spot, mmm…good.

    • Jan – Count me in on any “airtrip” to Germany for some authentic German food! 🙂
