Let’s make a date…

First, I must apologize for not posting for such a long time. As you may know, we’re in the middle of relocating our household from Germany back to the US. This is the second overseas move in just 12 months! Although I consider myself a hearty, ready-at-a-moment’s-notice, veteran-of-many-moves, experienced military wife, even I have to admit I’m ready to put down some solid roots for awhile. The relocation and re-establishing of a household is never easy and I’ve found this transition to be particularly exhausting.

So, I’m going to take a little break.

With the exception of being a major presenter at Quilt Iowa 2009 in Waterloo, Iowa next weekend (for which I’m completely excited!) I’m going to take a break from my fun little quilting business and this blog and concentrate on getting my family and me settled. With some roots planted firmly in the ground. New friends, new community, new church, new climate, new adventures, new opportunities for fun.

I’ll still be checking in with friends and colleagues whenever necessary and I’m sure I’ll be reading my favorite blog sites. But I’m not going to stress if a few days go by and I don’t answer emails (except the urgent ones) and I’ll even let the spam (of which there has been a huge increase in my inbox as of late…..GRRRRRR) pile up before hitting the collective “delete” key. The important thing is, I’m not going to push myself to keep up with the business side of my life while trying to unpack, hang things on the walls, shop for necessary household items, and help my boys adjust to their new surroundings, new school and meet the neighbor kids. In fact, I think I’ll be making more than the usual amount of brownies and frozen pops this summer for times when they invite their new friends over to the house. Which is a good thing! 🙂

Gosh, I hope you all will understand.

So, here’s the part where you come in. Let’s make a date to get together after things have calmed down a bit. Take time for family, for travel, for some much needed R & R. Take naps. Sip lemonade. Go swimming and get your hair wet (yes, you heard me correctly.) Drive with the windows open in your car. Take the kids out for ice cream at your local Dairy Queen. At 9 o’clock at night. Make memories. In the meantime, I’ll get myself unpacked and settled and into a somewhat familiar routine around here while you enjoy the summer. Does this sound like a good plan to you?

Let’s make a date to meet back here on September 4th. Yep, you can mark it on your calendar if you like. I’ll be here to jump start the “Friday’s with Kimberly” again. And just to make the date extra fun and worth coming back for, I’ll plan to have a special surprise for you to look forward to! I’ll have a brand new, FREE KMQ for you ready to download! (For those of you who aren’t aware of just what a KMQ is, it is a Kimberly’s Mystery Quilt pattern!)

I sure will miss all of you, and I hope you’ll miss me, too! But September 4th isn’t really that far away (gasp!) and will be here before you know it.

Happy summer, everyone. See you on September 4th!
